We are sickened by the murders of 26 people at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, TX.
We grieve with the families, the community, and the nation at the regular toll of violence that occurs throughout our country as a result of a permissive gun culture that allows violent people to acquire and use lethal weapons to destroy the lives of others.
Our elected officials are failing in their responsibility to assure safety and security by refusing to take any actions to curtail the acquisition of military-style weapons or to require universal background checks.
