Gun violence is all around us in the United States. It takes lives in our schools, houses of worship, and theaters. It upends families and communities in countless devastating ways that rarely grab headlines.
How do we interrupt the violence? In late March, nearly 350 young adults came to Washington, D.C., to advocate for one solution: federal funding for community-based violence interrupter programs to address the root causes of community violence and stop it before it starts. This advocacy through FCNL’s Spring Lobby Weekend highlights a critical tool in our toolbox to address the epidemic of gun violence.

José Santos (Woss) Moreno is FCNL’s director for justice reform. He leads FCNL’s work on criminal justice reform, election integrity, and policing.
Peter Murchison
Peter Murchison is on a multi-month assignment to extend and enrich FCNL’s policy and advocacy work on gun violence prevention. Peter has been actively advocating on the issue since the Sandy Hook shootings, which took the life of his 7-year-old nephew Daniel Barden.
Larissa Gil-Sanhueza
As the young adult program director, Larissa Gil-Sanhueza focuses on developing and training young adult advocates around the country.
