Each year from Sep. 15-Oct. 15, Hispanic Heritage Month provides an opportunity to celebrate and honor the many vibrant contributions that our Hispanic neighbors make to our country, communities, and the world we seek.
As Hispanic Heritage Month 2024 comes to a close, we wanted to recognize and applaud Pati Constantina, an active member of Mexico City Monthly Meeting.
We had the privilege to connect with Pati this summer at the Friends World Committee for Consultation’s World Plenary in South Africa, where she offered this hopeful and moving message to members of Congress in the United States:
Don’t think of others “as the enemy with distrust,” Pati said. “Try to think in unity. That you are representing a great country which has great multiculturalism.”
She urged lawmakers to always remember the responsibility that comes with their power, and to use it “to make a life that is best for everyone.”
“Try to be those trustworthy representatives,” she continued, “with great responsibility in every one of your actions and thoughts.”
