As U.S. weapons continue to cause catastrophic harm in Gaza, FCNL and 24 partner organizations sent a letter to President Joe Biden this week reiterating our demand for an immediate halt to arms shipments to Israel.

The letter was covered by the Huffington Post and is available to read here

“Your administration’s arming of the Israeli government has been and continues to be shockingly out of step with the realities of civilian harm and suffering in Gaza,” our coalition wrote.

Our Letter: Stop Arms Transfers to Israel Now

Nearly a year of mass, indiscriminate Israeli bombardment has inflicted a horrifying human toll in Gaza.

There is no moral or legal justification for continuing to provide the bombs that are enabling this horrific war.

Month after month, we’ve watched in horror as American bombs have fueled relentless attacks on civilians, aid workers, hospitals, and schools, among other apparent war crimes.

Yet, the U.S. continues to provide more bombs in disregard of both U.S. and international law.

Further, our letter noted that the continued provision of U.S. arms “has also sent a political signal of virtually unconditional support for Israel’s conduct.” Instead, the United States should be “[wielding] its leverage to stop the carnage in Gaza” by securing a permanent ceasefire.

The bottom line: There is no moral or legal justification for continuing to provide the bombs that are enabling this horrific war. Each day without action from our government, U.S. complicity in this suffering deepens. It must end now.
