Kevin Twillman, FCNL’s long-time controller, passed away peacefully on Jan. 25. He was a pillar of FCNL’s finance and operations team, known for his professionalism, steady accounting hand, and calm demeanor.
“Kevin was a talented controller and an even better person, with a great smile, who ensured that FCNL and its organizational affiliates carefully stewarded the funds that have been entrusted to us,” said Thomas Swindell, FCNL’s associate general secretary for finance and operations. “He made sure our financial practices were of the highest quality, while unnoticeably, he was passionate in learning about FCNL’s programmatic initiatives and applauded its stewardship and accomplishments.”
Kevin joined FCNL in 2017 with decades of experience as a controller, accountant, financial planner, and financial analyst. After earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Washington and Lee University and an MBA from the University of Virginia, he began his career with Marriott Corporation. Following his time with Marriott, he worked for several public and private companies of various sizes.
Most recently, before his time at FCNL, Kevin acted as a consultant to several nonprofit organizations providing accounting services. For nearly 20 years, he served as a senior management team member for a large multinational travel management company. In this role, he was responsible for all accounting and financial reporting, as well as heading up external audit coordination, payroll operations, and cash management.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Shirley Twillman, and children, Meredith of Boulder, C.O. and Michael of Washington, D.C.
The FCNL community holds his family and all those who loved him in the Light.
