The bipartisan Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission co-chaired by Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA) and Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL) held a hearing on U.S. policies to prevent mass atrocities.

The hearing highlighted recommendations from the report A Necessary Good: U.S. Leadership on Preventing Mass Atrocities, by the Experts Committee on Preventing Mass Violence that the Prevention and Protection Working Group, led by FCNL, convened in 2016. Two members of the Experts Committee testified at the hearing highlighting the report’s recommendations to the Administration and to Congress. including the need to pass the Elie Wiesel Genocide and Atrocities Prevention Act H.R.3030, S.1158.
