Thank you for joining Jessica, Hannah and Mimosa for the March 29 call on immigration policy update and action steps!
We are grateful for your participation and enthusiasm to work towards compassionate immigration policies. If we weren’t able to answer your question during the call, please reach out to Hannah (hannah@fcnl.org) and she’ll do her best to get you an answer.
Three Things You Can Do Now
1) Call your members of Congress
Ask them to oppose the $3 B supplemental request that funds a deportation force, expanded detention, and wall construction, and instead support protective legislation like the BRIDGE Act. Call today! Follow your call up by sending an email.
2) Share your story
Members of Congress are always looking for stories – so we’re starting to collect examples of these executive orders are adversely affecting our families, communities, and ourselves in the absence of meaningful reform. Are you involved in local advocacy work? Is your meeting a Sanctuary? Do you do detention visitation? Are you, or do you know someone who is a recipient of DACA or otherwise afraid of what the executive orders mean for them, for their families?
We will pass along your stories to your member of Congress’ office along with the request that they oppose funding endless enforcement and support legislative reforms for immigrants. Remember that if you’re sharing someone else’s story to make sure they know this will be shared with Congress. Share your story with us.
3) Request a meeting with your member of Congress over recess
Recess is from April 10-21 and your member of Congress will be home, at town hall events, and meeting with constituents about their concerns. Check out our resources on how to lobby if you want to find out how easy it can be to meet in person with your elected leaders. And see our current ask sheet that you can leave behind with the member or staff!
