Calling President Trump’s most recent executive order “un-American” and “unconstitutional,” Representative Zoe Lofgren has introduced legislation to rescind it.

Support refugees. Stop the Muslim ban.

Call Congress

Joined by more than 170 original cosponsors, Representative Zoe Lofgren introduced legislation today to nullify President Trump’s most recent executive order barring refugees and people from six Muslim-majority countries. The legislation, called the Statue of Liberty Values Act 2.0 (SOLVE Act 2.0), would also prevent US tax dollars from funding the implementation of the executive order. FCNL believes that this executive order is cruel and discriminatory, and strongly supports the SOLVE Act 2.0 as a means of aligning US immigration policy more closely with our values of religious freedom, protection of the vulnerable, and welcome to all.

In a letter to their colleagues, Representative Lofgren and Representative John Conyers called the executive order “unconstitutional” and “just as un-American as the first.” The order, they wrote, “violates our nation’s commitment to freedom of belief and humanitarian protection” and “makes Americans less safe by fueling ISIS propaganda and fracturing critical alliances in the fight against terror.”

Comparing this executive order to a version signed on January 27th, which has since been suspended by the courts, they wrote that “while some language in the updated executive order may be different than in the original, the intent and impact are the same.”

Urge your members of Congress to support SOLVE Act 2.0 (H.R. 1503) today.
