We are appalled by the escalating humanitarian crisis in Syria, especially the horrifying reports of violence targeting civilians. The U.S. has a moral obligation to protect Syrian civilians from further atrocities.
We call on the U.S. government to leverage its diplomatic power to end the killing.
The U.S. must use all the leverage it has with actors in the region, especially Russia and the Gulf Allies, to end the atrocities in Syria and begin a diplomatic solution to the Syrian crisis.
More bombs won’t help Syria; the only way to lasting peace is through diplomacy. The current and next administration should use their influence with the Russian government to stop the killing, especially the systematic targeting of civilians.
Congress should also support generous funding for humanitarian aid in Syria and throughout the region.
