Whether you attended Spring Lobby Weekend this year or not, you may have heard us talk about the Shaheen-Portman (or Portman-Shaheen these days) energy efficiency bill. Our team at FCNL has worked on this for years, as have many of you — thank you! Some of you have come to two Spring Lobby Weekends focused on passing this legislation.
This week, the House passed a slimmed-down version of this bipartisan legislation (S. 535) that had already passed the Senate, so it’s actually heading to the President’s desk!
You may notice the phrase “slimmed-down.” The bill going to the president’s desk is a step forward, but the full version would save way more energy. We need you to keep talking to your senators and representative to get them on board for the full bill.
A great way to do that might be lobbying at their in-district offices over the Memorial Day recess. You can contact those offices now to start scheduling meetings with the members and their staff.
Let me know if I can help you as you start to think about setting up this visit or want to think about other ways you can continue to engage Congress.
