Philosopher Bertrand Russell’s advice to future generations rings true today. He calls for intellectual integrity, whether or not the facts are convenient, and a recognition of our interconnectedness.
This election season has foregrounded our divisions. But Bertrand Russell urges us to accept and love one another — focusing on the common ground that lies beneath.
Love is wise; hatred is foolish. In this world, which is getting more and more closely interconnected, we have to learn to tolerate each other, we have to learn to put up with the fact that some people say things that we don’t like. We can only live together in that way. But if we are to live together, and not die together, we must learn a kind of charity and a kind of tolerance, which is absolutely vital to the continuation of human life on this planet.
At this year’s Annual Meeting, join us for four days of community, listening, worship, and advocacy as we confront what it means to love all of our neighbors now.
Thanks to Friend Tom Vaughan for the inspiration!
