FCNL condemns the Trump administration’s decertification on the Iran deal and the Cotton-Corker legislation that risks sabotaging this historic agreement. The Quaker lobby, which has been a leading voice advocating for diplomacy with Iran in Washington, calls on Congress to reject Trump’s dangerous bid to extort our negotiating partners to submit to ultimatums on the deal which risk its collapse and putting the United States on a path towards full-fledged war with Iran.

On September 26, 2017, FCNL along with 13 other organizations hosted a rally behind the White House to protest the Trump administration’s most recent travel ban and proposed refugee cap of 45,000. Activists, reporters, members of Congress, musicians, and general citizens gathered at 6:00 pm to listen to the speakers and express deep opposition to the administration’s discriminatory and exclusionary measures.

Faith leaders from various traditions stand united in opposition to the President’s decision, and in support of DACA-recipients. Faith communities across the country urge Members of Congress to stand in solidarity with immigrant youth and support an immediate, clean passage of S.1615/H.R.3440, the Dream Act of 2017.

Today, leaders from more than 45 Quaker schools and colleges sent a letter to President Trump in support of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and its recipients.

Religious leaders, including FCNL’s Executive Secretary Diane Randall, expressed concern at new reports that President Trump is seriously considering ending a program that protects 800,000 young immigrants from deportation.

The Friends Committee on National Legislation (Quakers) applauds the bipartisan Dream Act of 2017, introduced today by Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC) joined by Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), and Chuck Schumer (D-NY). This legislation outlines a path for Dreamers to become full and flourishing citizens of the country in which they grew up.

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to end U.S. funding for the disastrous Saudi-led war in Yemen. The House took this step by approving legislative language in a military policy bill that, if passed into law, would require the Trump administration to stop providing aerial refueling for Saudi and other coalition aircraft, intelligence sharing, and other forms of military support for this indiscriminate war that has killed thousands and plunged Yemen to the cusp of famine.

FCNL applauds the 47 senators who voted today to block the sale of U.S. weapons to Saudi Arabia. The growing Senate opposition to this sale sends a strong signal that U.S. backing for the Saudi-led coalition’s indiscriminate killing of civilians and de-facto blockade in Yemen must end.

Members from the bipartisan House Climate Solutions Caucus just introduced their first piece of legislation in the 115th Congress, the Climate Solutions Commission Act of 2017.
