Violence in our cities and towns continues to make headlines, and Community Violence Intervention programs are a bright spot in efforts to stop cycles of violence and address the root causes of systemic injustice. Programs such as Violence Interrupters act as a community-based solution to end these cycles and offer support to those affected by violence. They focus on empowering communities to find solutions that work for them and enable their members to thrive.

FCNL’s June Quaker Changemaker Event will feature a conversation between Rev. Frederick LaMarr, pastor and grassroots organizer with the Ministries 4 Movement in Columbus, OH and Ashley Myers, who has spent the last nine months organizing in Denver, CO as part of FCNL’s Advocacy Corps to support Violence Interruption programs. They will talk about these programs’ role in building safe communities, discuss the advocacy happening in their areas, and collaborations with organizations like FCNL that are building momentum for these programs to succeed across the country.
