Violence in our cities and towns continues to make headlines, and Community Violence Intervention programs are a bright spot in efforts to stop cycles of violence and address the root causes of systemic injustice. Programs such as Violence Interrupters act as a community-based solution to end these cycles and offer support to those affected by violence. They focus on empowering communities to find solutions that work for them and enable their members to thrive.

A lot is on the line in the 2024 elections: growing conflict abroad with the wars in Gaza, Ukraine, and other areas of the globe. Here in the U.S., we’re facing rising inequality, racial injustice, disinformation, and anti-democratic forces. All of this is made worse by our escalating climate crisis. But you can have an impact!
Friends Place, along with two of our Quaker retreat center peer organizations, Beacon Hill Friends House, and Pendle Hill, will be hosting a retreat from June 7-10, 2024, entitled Continuing Revolution: Restorative Justice as Spiritual Practice. Continuing Revolution is an annual gathering of young adults (ages 18-35) seeking to explore connections between their spiritual, political, and interpersonal lives.
