As the Senior Advocacy Teams Manager, Tim Heishman leads FCNL’s network of Advocacy Teams across the country. He develops strategic grassroots advocacy campaigns to support a network of over 135 teams in 48 states and D.C. in building congressional champions for peace and justice.
Tim also served as the Advocacy Teams Trainer and the Advocacy Teams Leadership and Training Manager in past roles with FCNL. From 2021-2024, Tim trained hundreds of people to lobby, built out statewide and regional volunteer leadership structures, and launched a digital platform for over 1,500 Advocacy Team members to communicate and strategize.
Before coming to FCNL, Tim worked as a pastor, camp program director, and denominational conference planner in the Church of the Brethren. He holds degrees in History and Biblical Studies from Eastern Mennonite University and a Master of Divinity from Bethany Theological Seminary.
As a fourth-generation conscientious objector to war, Tim comes from a family deeply committed to working for peace and justice. The stories from peacemakers in his family inspire him to continue this important work in his life. He is passionate about supporting grassroots advocates working for peace and justice through the legislative process.
Originally from Harrisburg, PA and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Tim now lives in Virginia with his wife and two children.
