Sierra Cottle is in her junior year at Northern Arizona University pursuing a B.S. in Environmental Science with an emphasis in Administration and Policy and a B.A. in Modern Language with an emphasis in Spanish. In her first two years at NAU, Sierra has developed an extensive background in community service, advocacy, and campaigning.
She is the president and founder of the club Fair Trade NAU which is running a campaign on campus to promote conscious and ethical consumerism. She is also an active member of NAU’s chapter of Omega Phi Alpha National Service Sorority.
Over the last two summers, Sierra served two consecutive terms as an AmeriCorps State Member paired with local organizations to fight poverty in her hometown. Currently, Sierra is Group Co-Lead of the Flagstaff, Arizona chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby, which has exposed her to the world of lobbying and legislative processes through lobbying members of Congress and through community organizing. Sierra is hoping to strengthen her knowledge in policymaking and advocacy as a member of the Advocacy Corps so that she can affect positive, lasting change both with FCNL and later in her career.
