Eleni Sefanit Retta (Eleni Sefanit for short) serves as Advocacy Teams Organizer for FCNL. She is a life-long D.C. area native, labor, international politics, and media advocate. Beginning in 2019, Eleni became involved with multiple labor and urban policy organizations including the Alliance for a Greater New York, Justice Policy Institute, HeadCount. She also worked in the digital strategy team of the D.C. based political communications agency, GMMB, for the 2024 political cycle.

She is a part of the professional development/educational program, the 2024-2025 Rise Fellowship with the Institute for Non-Profit Practice. Eleni has pursued organizing and research work in multiple capacities- including but not limited to the Justice Policy Institute and working to amend the Youth Rehabilitation Act (YRA) legislation for incarcerated youth in D.C., researching climate and labor for ALIGN NYC, and researching youth arts education policy with the Foundation of Contemporary Arts in Accra, Ghana during her time studying abroad at NYU Accra.

Eleni completed her degree in Sociology and thesis on Cultural Policy in Modern Ghana. Eleni now works in advocacy against state-sanctioned violence and working towards accurate and community-focused media.
