Destinee Bates was the program assistant for young adult outreach for 2021-2022. She helped manage recruitment and outreach to young adult advocates across the United States for FCNL’s programs.
She communicates with young people to mobilize their engagement in Spring Lobby Weekend, an immersive education and advocacy event hosted each spring. She also oversees the Delegation Leaders Program, which supports young adults in coordinating a group of their peers to attend and lobby alongside them.
Destinee is a proud graduate of the illustrious North Carolina A&T State University. Aggie Pride! Throughout her college career, she was dedicated to increasing civic engagement on campus while rallying against racially-biased districting and maps. Seeing the impact of gerrymandering on campus revealed to her the importance of community organizing. This led to her gaining extensive organizing experience with the North Carolina Democratic Party, Democratic National Committee’s Organizing Corps, and Sister District Project.
Before joining FCNL, Destinee was honored to serve in the Episcopal Service Corps for two years in Baltimore, MD.
