Keep Toxins Out of the Air We Breathe!

Dear Representative:

The Friends Committee on National Legislation urges you to vote for the Capps amendment to the Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill (H.R. 2584) This amendment will preserve the Environmental Protection Agency’s authority to reduce toxic air pollution like mercury.

As presently written H.R. would prevent EPA from requiring sources to control their toxic pollution. EPA’s proposed toxic rules for utilities, boilers and cement kilns can deliver huge health benefits for the people of the United States. There is no possible moral or economic justification for exposing people to substances like mercury that cause neural damage especially in young children. Toxic pollution hurts the poor and vulnerable people most.

Please vote for the Capps Amendment and allow EPA to make the air we all breate healthier.

Sincerely,

Marcia J. Cleveland
Legislative Representative,
