A Quaker Lobby in the Public Interest

Kaj Telenar

Kaj Telenar, a software engineer, has been involved in politics since a newspaper photographer captured him protesting the Vietnam War in San Diego when he was five years old.

These days Kaj enjoys exercising his political muscle from a Quaker perspective with FCNL. He is a rookie member of the Policy Committee, but he has known about FCNL since he heard about it as a young Friend in New England Yearly Meeting. Over the course of his involvement with the organization he has appreciated the positive energy he feels from other FCNL supporters.

He is inspired by the work his fellow advocates are doing, and is especially enthusiastic about the Peaceful Prevention of Deadly Conflict campaign. After initial skepticism, he also has come to admire the War Is Not the Answer campaign. Kaj reports that his bumper sticker starts unlikely conversations -once while he was stuck in traffic on the way home from vacation.

In the years to come Kaj looks forward to continuing his service on the Policy Committee and staying in better touch with FCNL and the issues it works on.
