Wilderness Friends Meeting Minute: In Solidarity with Muslim Americans

Apr 26, 2011

Quakers are widely and rightly known as standing for peace. Peace is one of our principal testimonies.

Islam is one of the world’s great religions, having perhaps a billion and a half adherents. Muslims worship the same God of Abraham that Christians and Jews worship. The vast majority of Muslims also believe in peace, though a militant minority do not.

Muslims in America are currently subject to much hostility, discrimination, intimidation, untrue charges, and other forms of abuse. This abuse causes pain and anger both in the United States and around the world among Muslims who have done us no harm and with whom all Americans should be living in peace and harmony.

We of the Wilderness Friends Meeting of Shrewsbury, Vermont, declare that we stand in solidarity with all peace-loving Muslims around the world.
