Shoulder to Shoulder

FCNL has joined with 26 other religious organization in a campaign called Shoulder to Shoulder, an interfaith organization dedicated to ending anti-Muslim sentiment by strengthening the voice of freedom and peace. The group also encourages advocacy in Congress and state legislatures to support religious freedom and to counter proposals that would have a negative effect on one faith group. FCNL’s work with Shoulder to Shoulder follows on the adoption and dissemination of FCNL’s 2009 epistle from the General Committee “Encouraging Quaker Engagement with American Muslims,” our letters to Congress opposing hearings that framed a negative image of Islam, and our petition signed by 8000 Quakers supporting the opening of the Cordoba Islamic Culture Center in Manhattan. Diane Randall will represent FCNL on the steering committee of Shoulder to Shoulder.
