Emergency Crises Fund: We like it

FCNL Supports the Emergency Crises Fund

FCNL supports the Senate proposed $100 million Emergency Crises Fund-- which would enable the State Department, in coordination with USAID, to respond quickly to unforeseen crises--because it provides more funding for civilian response to violent conflict and more flexibility than the House's proposal. We are working hard with members of Congress to include this provision in the FY2010 Foreign Operations appropriations bill.

The House and Senate appropriators who will decide the fate of the bill are already meeting. If your representative or senators sit on the Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee, they could influence whether this fund winds up in the final appropriations bill.
