Oversight of the Management of Indian Trust Funds

As a follow up to the Cobell litigation on the mishandling of Native American Trust Funds by the Department of the Interior, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has established the “Secretarial Commission on Indian Trust Administration and Reform.” The Secretary has named five tribal citizens, nominated through a public process, to this commission. The commission’s responsibility is to undertake a comprehensive review of the Department’s management of Indian trust funds. More information is available from the Department of the Interior.
