Action Week Day 4: A Question to Ask Your Friends
On this fourth day of action this week, please increase the effectiveness of your advocacy in support of cutting the Pentagon budget by reaching out to others who might be able to participate. Ask friends, neighbors, or colleagues a simple question: "What is the most important thing for our city, state, or federal government to be spending money on right now?" Odds are you won't hear a lot about Pentagon spending.
No matter what you and your neighbors care about, you also need to care about Pentagon spending. If Pentagon spending isn't cut by at least $1 trillion in the next ten years, then the budgets for many of these other programs will be cut even more than they already have been.
Today, help start a conversation in your community by:
- Sending an email to 5 people you know who might be interested in the effects Pentagon spending has on other priorities in your area. You can find a sample message on our website.
- Answering this poll on FCNL's Facebook page and sharing it with your friends. The poll asks the question, "What's your #1 priority for the federal government?" and follows up with a link to a page that explains how your income tax dollars really get spent. No matter what your priorities, they will be affected by whether Congress decides to keep planned cuts in Pentagon spending. Find out why.
As always, if you've been taking action this week, I'd like to hear what you've been doing and any reaction you've heard from congressional offices. Email your stories and feedback to jimcason@fcnl.org. When you share your experiences, you help give others ideas for what they can do to make a difference. Thank you!
