Does the U.S. Public Support the Afghanistan War?

These questions are from a Washington Post-ABC News poll that was conducted by telephone March 10 to 13, 2011, among a random national sample of 1,005 adults, including users of both conventional and cellular phones. The results from the full survey have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points. Sampling, data collection and tabulation by TNS of Horsham, Pa. See the full poll.

24. On another subject: All in all, considering the costs to the United States versus the benefits to the United States, do you think the war in Afghanistan has been worth fighting, or not? Do you feel that way strongly or somewhat?

Post-ABC Poll responses: on March 13, 2011, 31% of respondents said the war in Afghanistan was worth fighting, 63% said it was not worth fighting, and 5% had no opinion.
