On the second day of Christmas, FCNL gave to thee
Lobbying for the rights of Native American women
Violence against women is a serious problem in Indian Country, one that FCNL has been focused on for several years. In November, FCNL lobbied the Senate Indian Affairs Committee and sent each member a letter supporting the SAVE Native Women Act. This bill would help end loopholes that prevent tribal law enforcement from detaining and prosecuting non-Indian abusers. On December 8, the Senate Indian Affairs Committee amended and unanimously approved S. 1763, the SAVE Native Women Act. Find out more about our work on Native American issues.
FCNL needs your help to push the U.S. to honor the promises made to Native Americans and continue Quakers' historic witness for Native rights.
