On Wednesday, December 22, the Senate ratified the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, by a vote of 71 to 26. The treaty would reduce the number of U.S. and Russian deployed strategic nuclear weapons by 30 percent, from 2,200 to 1,550 each.

Thirteen Republicans and all of the Democrats voted to ratify the treaty. The strong bipartisan vote was the result of dozens of national and local organizations and grassroots activists just like you!

If your senators voted for New START thank them! If not, let them know that you’re disappointed. You can use our website to send a message.
