In this guest post, former FCNL Executive Secretary Edward Snyder remembers a prominent member of the FCNL community, Stephen Angell.

I learned from Stephen Angell's family of his death at 91 in early May. What a life he had. I consider him a man of the next century. He embodied all those characteristics that we will need to survive the issues currently facing humanity-- frugality, conservation of resources, respect for all people, deep religious convictions, actions for peace, vision and leadership!

He was a model for me in so many areas. Creative ways to avoid paying taxes for war. Furnishing much of your home with serviceable items from the local dump. Sound judgment and an ever ready smile for all of us at FCNL. Energy conservation in his ancient car. His faith in the downtrodden and in conflict resolution as he traveled the U.S. and the world for AVP.

Truly a model for us all!
