As we tried to make sense out of the violence in Tucson this past weekend, we also remembered the ten-year anniversary of another senseless killing. Laura Wilcox, a sophomore at Haverford College, was shot and killed by a severely mentally ill man while she was volunteering at a public mental-health clinic near her home in California. Laura attended FCNL’s Annual Meeting in November 2000, shortly before her death. Her parents published this remembrance of Laura on the five-year anniversary of the tragedy.
