Ned Stowe has served as Legislative Secretary for the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) since 1995. Ned is currently developing FCNL’s program on climate, energy and human security, focusing on reducing U.S. greenhouse gas emissions and oil dependence through policies that promote energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy. Before coming to FCNL in 1995, Ned worked at the Institute of Government and Public Affairs and the Center for Advanced Study at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he coordinated programs and conducted research on environmental policy and science and technology policy. Ned received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geology in 1978 from Knox College at Galesburg, Illinois, a Master of Arts in Diplomatic History (U.S.-Soviet Relations) in 1986 from the University of Missouri at Columbia, and a Master of Arts in Political Science (Public Policy) in 1995 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Ned is a member of the Sandy Spring Monthly Meeting (Baltimore Yearly Meeting). He resides with his family in Silver Spring, MD.
